If hotmail isn't secure enough for you, as it's not your system there is very little you can do... apart from (to quote Lenin) vote with your feet.
Reply:- Always update your anti virus program. There are weekly updates of virus and your anti virus definitions should be using the latest DAT files containig recent virus discoveries.





- Make sure you have an anti spy ware program installed on your computer. This program should check if you have malicious files that could sniff your personal information.





- Do not open e-mail messages of unknown sender. Be wary as well of opening e-mail attachments. I prefer not to open attachments from an unknown sender especially if it is not picture files.





- When engaging in an instant message conversation, do not click links advertise by your online contacts. There are recent events where online contacts automatically send invitation to visit a specific link. Right after you visit the link, you get infected with the virus and pass it around with your online contacts as well.





Lastly, avoid browsing solicited websites like porn sites. These kind of sites are bombarded with a lot of spy wares and other malicious softwares that can affect your data and your computer's resources.
