Hi i was wondering ... there are alot of websites like youtube, hi5,facebook,myspace,friendster .....countless .There are lots of websites that you (or even i ) am a part of , and have been using for a long time .Usually we use ONE email for all those sites, right? And now my ultimate question is what happens when you delete that Hotmail account? What happens to all those websites that were registered under that ONE hotmail account of yours? what are the effects that happen? Can someone tell me? And what is the coclusion or what can i do about it?

You can still use the sites its just that you will not be able to get any notifications, updates or any mail those sites might send to you. And if you lose your log in password and they have to send it to your email well you already know...you're locked out.
Of course some of those sites offer you the option to change your email and account info so you might want to consider doing that before you cancel your hotmail account. Or just don't use the hotmail account...it will eventually get closed and you will always have to option to reactivate it if you ever need it in the future.

Why can't I post to my groups from my hotmail account?
I am having problems posting to the yahoo groups that I am a member of from my hotmail email address. I receive mail fine and I can send the word test in the subject line but I can't compose any emails. Also it will allow me to reply to any group members but I can't post. except for one group Urscene-fm@yahoogroups.com.

maybe it has to do with the groups itself, than the use of hotmail although hotmail seems to often conflict with Yahoo groups. what happens when you try to post? does it come back to your inbox as an error and if so, what does the error state?

Hotmail, not being a POP3 email service, has your folders of info stored on their servers and not on your hard drive... so you wouldn't be able to export a folder and then import it into another account......... But, since Hotmail is free you could open up your new mail account, then go back to the old one and forward each item in the content of a folder to your new email address....then just a matter of creating a folder and moving the sent mail into that folder.....
Of course, you could forward any of the emails saved in that folder to any other email account and then once you open a new Hotmail account, again forward those transferred emails to the new Hotmail account.....
If the mail was stored on your hard drive, then a matter of exporting the folder to your desktop and importing it when you have the new account.... but with server based email programs, you don't have that luxury and must resort to mailing to yourself at a different account name.......

good luck, I have been waiting over 2 months on an answer on how to switch back to the original hot-mail. I have just switch to yahoo mail because when there is a holiday and so many people are using the internet your emails don't go through and when they do it goes through about 8 to 10 times.

There's nothing to do with your security settings, those emails are processed in server-side. It might be your friends or family mistyped your email address.

Hotmail account summary keeps loading problem?
I got someone to reinstall my windows system yesterday, and after that, i had problem with windows live account summary page. When I went there to edit my personal info and password stuff.the page kept loading and loading with a circle but nothing appears. Everytime you receive such email, select it (don't open it and mark it as spam) -- works for both Gmail and Hotmail.
In Hotmail you can also set JUNK filter to "exclusive" or "people in address book only", this way you will get only those emails which are from your contacts and anyone (whether spam or not) will go to JUNK mail folder (so you will have to check it on a regular basis and select / add people who are not spam).

I'm trying to view my hotmail account options but when I click on options it opens a page that says the site has an invalid security certificate etc. Obviously as it's a Microsoft site this can't be true so what does it mean?

Okay so I've been trying to verify my hotmail email account, but it takes so darn long for the page to load! This happened yesterday, the day before, and everytime I want to go to my account summary, it takes long too. I think everypage is like that, but i kept trying for days =0 can someone help me?

If so, the messages that are in your hotmail right now can only be transferred to your yahoo account by forwarding each message.
In order to have every message that WILL come to go to your yahoo account, follow these steps -
Log on to Hotmail (windows live, if it's in classic, change it to the live version) and go to:
"Options" (on the same bar where you compose messages, towards the left) %26gt; "Manage your account" should be the first section on the list, click "forward mail to another e-mail account" %26gt; select "Forward your mail to another e-mail address" %26gt; and put in your yahoo email address.

I am assuming that you are referring to the web-based email offered by Microsoft. In that case, I don't think you have to do anything. When the old Hotmail changes to the new Windows Live Mail it will also change your contacts with it.

thank god I'm not the only one! My face turned white when that message came up. I have many important business emails. I'm hoping things get fixed asap...now that I know other people are having problems, I'm thinking its just a malfunction and things will be normal soon

They are probably experiencing technical difficulties. I am sure they are working to correct the problem and will have it fixed as soon as possible. If there is something you wish to do they do and can not, then contact Hotmail service representative and ask them about the problem.

Why do I have to sign into my hotmail account twice before it accepts the password??
Do you have any idea what the problem could be?? I'm typing it correctly (I can even copy and paste and it will work the second time) Also the problem exists for other hotmail accounts on same computer. The hotmail techinical support has not been helpful. Please help.

That is a tough question.
my suggestion would be to make sure the remember user/password box is unchecked.
Then run disk clean up in the start / all programs / accessories / system tools disk clean up. Then restart your computer

The friend's email is working fine - messages sent to more than one person arrive except the copy to me. The emails are not going to my junk mail. I have tried getting her to reply to my email, no sucess. I am receiving emails promptly from other people. - Help!

Reply:There could possibly be a mix up on hotmail. You may be getting someone elses mail and they may be getting yours. Contact Hotmail about this straight away!

I am using Microsoft Outlook for a while now. Suddenly - without me changing any settings - it wont receive emails from my hotmail account. I can however still send emails from outlook via my hotmail address.

You have to wait a set period of time and try again. If you can't figure it out, you'll have to try the RESET option involving your secret question.
If that fails, could be someone beat you to it.

Are you absolutely sure you are typing in your correct e-mail address and password. Please remember that passwords are case sensitive, so if when you first created your password, you wrote it all in caps, then you have to do the same thing every time you sign into your account. Try typing your password first in lower case letters. If that doesn't work, try all caps. If that still doesn't work, click forget password? and follow the prompts from there. Good luck!

If I was e-mailed a virus to my hotmail account and I used the public library's computer to open?

no it won't affect your hot-mail account, and if they have a virus detector on it , it would have come up right away . If there is none .. then --depending on what type of virus it is -- yes it probably did.
Just don't use it in case. Most of the time library computer doesn't have all the security measures like people at home do .
How do I know ?? well after some people in my computer security class i teach asked the same questions like yours , so for fun I went to our library and pretended i was going to surf the net, when they weren't looking i clicked their control panel and looked down the list , 5 out of 5 computers had no virus or security installed and their firewall wasn't activated . ( so i activated it hee hee)
and recently I went on vacation and there were 2 libraries .. both the very same , no virus detector and only 1 firewall partially on.
and TONS of spy-ware !!
actually library computers are a bad place to use your email. they are the prime targets of hackers .
Because of the fact they know libraries don't get into the keep your comp safe, also they know MANY diferent people sign in to their mail and banking accounts.
I heard of hackers programming library computers because alot of people check their mail on it and they have the passwords to all. ESPECIALLY online bank accounts.
and some of the library users are hackers getting it hooked up via the Internet.

Most likely not as you did not open the file on Hotmail's servers, you opened it on the poor library's system. Great way to get banned from the library :)

you have to set the e-mail server to HTTP when you are setting up your account, the it asks for what service you just choose hotmail, then enter your username and password and away you go

For some reason when i try to email my dad, they don't reach him! He can email me, but even when i try to reply to an email he's sent he doesn't receive it. I don't have this problem when i email other hotmail users.

The only thing that fit's this scenario is he has got your email address blocked somehow.
It all depends on how he has got his account set up under the Message Rules.
I would suggest you contact him personally and get him to have a look at his account setup.
