What can a stranger find out from my hotmail email account?

if i give someone my hotmail email address, can they find out my full name, address, school, etc? I have heard some stuff about IP addresses but i'm not exactly sure what they are or what sort of information they give. by just chatting with someone on msn, can they find out personal information even without me telling them?

no, they can not find out that information unless you have posted that information online somewhere ('posted online' includes 'used to sign up with a website').





if they get your IP address (they would have to have hacking software to get your IP address from msn, it is very unlikely), they can use the IP address to get your general location (like what city you live in, and maybe what general area of the city like "north half" or "south half") but no closer than that.
Reply:As long as the data in your hotmail profile isn't personal, the likelyhood of them getting personal data is minimal. The IP address located in an email will give them a way to track you down, but it is rather difficult to find out, unless they work for your ISP.

that is WHY YOU NEVER PUT YOUR REAL NAME on your account or ANY of your accounts.. Make up fake names. fake addresses, and fake birthdates, never put any REAL informaiton on your accounts, someone could easily HACK into your site %26amp; Get all your Personal Information....

Reply:it depends on what information you give out when you create the account and also what you have on your profile. i don't use any real information and i don't add anything to profile either. privacy starts with you and what you give out !

Reply:make sure ur privacy settings are set so noone can see ur info. but if they hate u they could email u a pc virus
