Is it true that a hotmail account will allow you to delete already sent email?

I heard that on hotmail if you send an email to someone and that person hasn't read it you can delete and they won't be able to read it. I got a hotmail account (free) and couldnt figure out how to do it.

Is this possible with a free account or even at all??

Don't listen to the rubbish answer above. This is possible, you can retrieve any e-mail after you have sent it as long as the receiver hasn't already opened it. This is handy (for example) if you send a dirty e-mail to your instead of your partner!!! (or for whatever reason:)

Unfortunately I can only tell you how to do this in Outlook (this is the only e-mail client I really use) If you are using outlook, open the sent message, click actions %26amp; "Recall this message". Simple as that!

This is 100% possible with every other e-mail provider too eg. yahoo, hotmail etc. but I could not tell you how as I don't use any of these :)

NOTE TO DAVID A: Why answer the question if you are not sure what you are saying is right, it wont help anyone so stop pretending you know what you are talking about and keep quiet if you are not sure.

ANOTHER NOTE TO DAVID A. It is possible but, as I said, I donot use these shitty freeaccounts so could not tell you how it is done.

It may be simple, it may be quite complicated using other softwre etc. but it IS possible.

Who do you think you are telling ME what is right and wrong????
Reply:Wow, there are lots of functions I've never seen on the computer. This is one of them. I've never even noticed the "Recall this message" command in the menus. I've heard of it on other programs, but never knew that my Outlook could do it. Thanks! Report Abuse

Reply:It's possible to a degree. Like where I work we use Microsoft Outlook 2003 Professional (not Express) and if we send an e-mail to another co-worker we can ask them if we could send back the e-mail and if they accept it'll be deleted that way.

But as far as Hotmail no they do not offer that service to the free accounts.
Reply:I'm afraid that is not possable. Once you have sent an email and if you have chosen to save it on your sent items folder, you can delete the sent items from this folder, however, once the mail is sent to the recipients inbox, they can still open the email even if you have deleted it as a sent item

A NOTE TO FAZ: Faz, what i answered is correct if you read the question the person asked. They did not mention Outlook. This is not 100% possable at all, if the user is using the web based method of accessing their hotmail account. No email client was mentioned.

Please read the question and the answer carefully befour accusing me of pretending to know what I'm talking about

Another note to FAZ: again, read the question, I think you will find I am correct. A user using the web based interface of the free msn hotmail will find it imposable to do what the question asked.

The user is not using an email client nor any other software, they asked if it was possable using the free hotmail account and due to the nature of the question I assume that no email client or additional software is being used.

Please feel free to contact Microsoft with this question if you still doubt my answer
