My x is threatening me to steal my hotmail account- is this possible?

He claims there are programs to do this but I am not sure! Are there? I want proof that he can actually steal my hotmail so I can go to the police but before then I dont have anything.

You can't go to the police over an internet or email connection, unless the thief is making visible threats against your life, property or your family. He has you scared, though, doesn't he?! He's a bully, obviously. Just be very careful who you give your email address to, and keep a very watchful eye on your account. Open an account under your maiden name or the name of a relative, so if you see something that doesn't look right, you can quickly transfer your mail and addresses then close the account immediately.
Reply:If you change your password, he won't be able to get in. There is virtually no way for him to hack your hotmail unless he's some sort of super genius hacker with lots of resources. But even if he was, it's still unlikely.

Like I said, you should change your password to something he won't guess, and make sure he doesn't get on your computer. It's not hard to find someone's password if you're both using the same machine. =]
Reply:There are no programs to steal an email account. There are programs, though, that record everything you type, called keyloggers. You should make sure you have none of these on your computer. If you change your password after doing so, there is no way for your ex to get into your account. (Provided the password is secure, of course.)
Reply:Don't just change your password -- you probably gave Hotmail an alternate e-mail address to help in case you lose your password. Change or delete that too if he can read the email there.
Reply:Change your hotmail password.
